Cel-Shaded Fantasy Survival Game Stormforge Opens Registration for Playtest
Roboto Games, the studio behind the highly anticipated fantasy open-world survival crafting game Stormforge, has announced its public playtest this July, providing players their first opportunity to experience the game. To celebrate the announcement, the team has also unveiled a brand new gameplay trailer during the Women-Led Games Showcase.
Stormforge is a cooperative survival experience that supports up to 8 players, and is set in a world overrun by magical storms. Each storm presents unique dangers such as: tornadoes that fling rocks, trees, and enemies into the air; dust storms that reduce visibility and damage the player. The storms have unique mechanics that change how the game is played, and are brimming with powerful resources, but also filled with deadly creatures.
Players will start as warrior, mage, or ranger, and unlock extra classes by defeating bosses. It’s up to the players how they customise their character’s loadout, as they can mix and match skills and abilities across all unlocked classes to create unique playstyles. Each storm survived and each dungeon explored will grant new skills, with 100 available.
“Giving players the freedom to decide how to play Stormforge has been our top priority since the very beginning”, says Mathilde Pignol, Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer at Roboto Games. “We’ve been hearing from our community during our private tests, and we’ve developed character classes based on their feedback: if you would like to play as a warrior with sneaking abilities, you can; a mage who can damage large groups of enemies with a jump attack? No problem. You can mix and match abilities and skills from your classes, and play Stormforge your way.”.
Stormforge can be wishlisted on Steam and is set for an Early Access launch in 2026. To participate in the upcoming Public Playtest, survival crafting fans can sign up on Steam, and learn more about the game by visiting its Discord or following the studio on X, Tik Tok, Instagram or Facebook.
About Roboto Games
Roboto Games is a small scrappy studio made up of plucky game industry vets who, despite common wisdom, cannot stop making games. With an average of 12 years of games industry experience on the team, this isn’t our first rodeo. In 2007 we founded ZipZapPlay, which we sold to PopCap games in 2011.
