Berlin is poised to become the capital of the games world: around 15,000 visitors are expected to attend #gamesweekberlin 2018 which will kick off Monday (23 April) with the Opening Gala and the presentation of the newly created Medienpreis Games at Säälchen (Holzmarktstr. 25) in Berlin. Twelve individual events for both gaming enthusiasts and representatives of the games industry are gathered under the umbrella brand which combines different aspects, subjects and target groups of the sector.
Berlin as the city with the highest concentration of games companies in Germany is the ideal venue for #gamesweekberlin. An indication of the popularity of games in Germany is shown by the most recent figures from game, the association of the German games industry. In 2017, the German games market posted growth of 15% to more than 3.3 billion Euros turnover and thus surpassed the 3 billion Euros mark for the first time.
#gamesweekberlin is SEVEN DAYS PACKED WITH EVENTS DEDICATED TO GAMING, BUSINESS AND DEVELOPMENT.
At a press conference on 16 April, 2018, the organisers and partners of #gamesweekberlin introduced the extensive and wide-ranging programme of the twelve events, presented the latest figures for the sector, and also launched the new English-language platform „Games Capital Berlin“ (www.gamescapitalberlin ) which serves as an important information tool for the German and international games industry to provide information about Berlin in its role as a games hub.

Event Celebrates 2nd Anniversary of the Awesome Mobile Game with a Special Announcement of a KINGDOM HEARTS III Tie-In
LOS ANGELES (Apr. 16, 2018) – This past weekend, over a thousand keyblade wielders gathered to attend the Dandelion Meeting, the first official North American community gathering for KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross]. Attendees at the Kingdom Hearts Union Fan Event celebrated the anniversary with various activities including new playable content and panel discussions with the development team.
During the panel, Franchise Director Tetsuya Nomura and KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross] Producer Hironori Okayama shared their insights into the inner-workings of the beloved series. Additionally, in a special video message, KINGDOM HEARTS III Co-Director Tai Yasue revealed that the new mini-games inspired by classic Disney cartoons and 1980’s LCD games that fans were able to play at the event will also be available to play in both KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross] and KINGDOM HEARTS III. New footage of the “CLASSIC KINGDOM” gameplay is available on Youtube:
Nomura also announced that fans will have a unique chance to become part of history in KINGDOM HEARTS III. Other exciting announcements for the mobile game include:
- New Player vs. Player (PvP) Mode – During the Dandelion Meeting event, players were treated to a special preview of the new asynchronous PvP mode which will launch later this year. The new PvP mode will be the first time players can battle against one another in KINGDOM HEARTS, and will require players to strategically use their best medals in turn-based combat to be victorious. The player who wins the most turns will win the battle, and be entered into a monthly PvP Leaderboard for the chance to accumulate rewards and recognition.
- 2-year Anniversary Celebration Gifts – To commemorate the game’s second anniversary, 3,000 jewels were gifted to all players on April 7, 2018. Players were also gifted two Fantasia Mickey B medals today, which can be claimed any time within the next month.

Ubisoft® says that Far Cry® 5, the latest installment of the franchise, is now available on the PlayStation®4 Pro, PlayStation®4, the Xbox One family of devices and Windows PC. Far Cry 5 is rated PEGI 18.
Set in America, a first for the franchise, Far Cry 5 offers players total freedom to navigate a serene-looking yet deeply twisted world as the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana. Players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden’s Gate. As a result, this ignits a violent takeover of the county. Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance.

Far Cry 5, developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other studios*, is a first person shooter set in a completely open world. Players will have the freedom of choice, wrapped in an immersive story with memorable characters, where they can experience Far Cry Moments. They can be unpredictable and unforgettable. For Example, getting attacked by a bear while quietly fishing, or being rescued by Boomer at just the right time. You can play any way you want, including recruiting Guns for Hire or Fangs for Hire. You can recruit a Friend for Hire, which allows you to play the entire game in co-op, a franchise first.

Far Cry 5 also includes Far Cry Arcade, the biggest and most versatile map editor mode for the Far Cry series. As a result, In Far Cry Arcade, players can create new scenarios by utilising assets from other titles in the series as well as other Ubisoft franchises, including Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Unity, or Watch Dogs®, for solo, co-op or competitive experiences.
Players also purchase the Gold Edition of Far Cry 5, which includes the base game, season pass and bonus content. The Far Cry 5 season pass transports players to uncanny adventures across three unique settings with the upcoming DLCs. Those DLC’s include Hours of Darkness, Dead Living Zombies and Lost on Mars, among others. Forza Racing Championship 2018

ForzaRC 2018 – Pre-Season Invitational Presented by IMSA
In advance of the 2018 season start, we’re kicking things off with the ForzaRC 2018 Pre-Season Invitational on March 24 in Seattle, WA, home of Turn 10 Studios. We’ve invited some of the best drivers and teams in the world to compete and set the stage for a season of exhilarating races. We’ll have more details to share, including participating racers, cars, tracks, and more in March.
ForzaRC 2018 – Regular Season
Following the Pre-Season Invitational presented by IMSA, the regular season begins. The season is split into two series, each consisting of seven weeks of ranked events and culminating in a live playoff event with a prize pool of $75,000. At the end of the two series, the top 24 drivers will be invited to compete in the Forza Racing World Championship 2018 for their shot at a $100,000 prize pool and the title.
Here’s a look at the 2018 season calendar, which will be updated regularly at ForzaRC.com:
- Series 1: April 2 – May 23
- Series 1 Playoffs: June 16 – 17, live in Seattle
- Series 2: July 9 – August 29
- Series 2 Playoffs: September 29 – 30, live in Mexico City
- World Championship: October 2018 (final date TBA), live in London
Ranking Up
When the competition begins on April 2, all registered drivers begin their race to the top of the leaderboard. As part of each seven-week series, drivers will compete in ranked events, earning points and climbing the leaderboard as they go. Look for a full breakdown of the tournament structure and scoring in March.

- Spectate
Watch live multiplayer races with our brand new Spectate feature. Improved camera transitions and performance means you’ll never miss the action. Positioning data for on-track cars is 100% precise as well, which means that what players see in Spectate is exactly what’s happening in the race. - Seed the Grid
Players will be able to set up multiplayer races just as they like with the new Seed the Grid feature. Lobby hosts can now manually set the grid order during race setup, and a completely overhauled interface offers hosts and viewers alike new details, like real-time player grid position changes.
Both Spectate and Seed the Grid will be added as part of our February content update for Forza Motorsport 7 and represent just the start of our esports feature set.

Microsoft at E3 2018
E3 2018
Chris Jones Gaming is so looking forward to E3 this year! I am not actually going to Los Angeles, but I very much love the atmosphere created around an event like E3. I will very likely be mirroring coverage from another source. Admittedly, I favor Playstation over XBox One – but have a look at this regarding Microsoft at E3 2018.

Since Xbox made its first appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2000, Xbox has had a major presence at the show, delivering exclusive and powerful ways to let fans in on what we’re up to, and 2018 will be no different. In fact, it will be our biggest showing ever.
With the evolution of E3, now including fans and extended show hours, we saw an opportunity to create an entirely new show experience reaching E3 attendees and those that are following the show from afar. With that, in collaboration with the Entertainment Software Association, the organizers of E3, we’re excited to announce that Xbox will be taking over the Microsoft Theater, a perfectly situated space located in the heart of L.A. Live. That is across the street from the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC).
The Microsoft Theater
The Microsoft Theater will be home to official E3 events like the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing on June 10, 2018 at 1PM PT, various Xbox FanFest activities, hands-on gameplay and demos for all E3 attendees and more. Not only does the Microsoft Theater allow us to centralize our Xbox presence at E3, but it’s size enables us to include even more fans and partners in the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing than ever before.
In addition to the Microsoft Theater, we will continue to have a meaningful presence at the LACC with a new booth completely dedicated to Mixer, where you can play, stream and interact with games and catch the latest E3 news live throughout the entire week.
Expanding our presence, multiple venues, in addition to taking over the Microsoft Theater – give us the opportunity to bring together a variety of Xbox experiences into one primary location. Most importantly, we will let fans in on what we’re up to in 2018 and beyond in a fresh new way.

At the EVE Fanfest, CCP announced ‘Into the Abyss,’ the newest expansion for EVE Online, their deep and uniquely player-driven spaceship MMO game. Launching in May 2018, EVE Online: Into the Abyss is delivered as a free update to all players, both for those with subscriptions and those playing for free.
EVE Online: Into the Abyss injects ground-breaking, transformative gameplay into EVE Online and presents a new adventure for players, inviting you to explore dangerous uncharted territory with strange new inhabitants and potentially vast rewards. This content will be just as unfamiliar to veteran EVE players as it is to novice players entering the game today.
‘Into the Abyss’ adds exploration and survival gameplay in the form of Abyssal Deadspace, a brand new hostile environment filled with hazardous environmental effects and mysterious adversaries, the Triglavian Collective. Players can enter pockets of Abyssal Deadspace from almost anywhere in New Eden. On entry, players fight and explore their way through a series of unpredictable encounters. You use your skills to take on growing risks in the hope of coming out the other side with high value cargo.
Players search for the new mutaplasmids, only found in Abyssal Deadspace. Mutaplasmids can be combined with existing modules to transform them into Abyssal modules, potentially increasing their power vastly or breaking them beyond repair. However, the challenges that players confront become more difficult the deeper they venture into Abyssal Deadspace… and failure means death. Faced with increasing danger from perilous encounters; do you continue and risk your spaceship in the hope of finding greater riches, or make your way home to exploit your rewards?
