Chris Jones Gaming was founded in Late 2006 by Chris Jones and Mindwipe. Chris Jones had been a well known member of the Star Trek Gaming Community for a number of years, modding games in the Starfleet Command series and 2002’s Star Trek: Bridge Commander.
It wasn’t long before Modders who’d known him in the past joined Chris Jones Gaming and began work on the Ultimate Universe Mod for 2006’s Star Trek: Legacy.
The team grew to a respectable size and the Ultimate Universe Demo was released just four months later. Over the next four years, the Ultimate Universe Mod and Chris Jones Gaming continued to grow, releasing expansion packs to the mod in between the feature installs, which were named Ultimate Universe Version 1.0 and Ultimate Universe Version 2.0, as well as attracting some of the brightest talents from other communities, their scratch-built models reaching professional standards.
The Ultimate Universe Mod is one of our proudest achievements. Through its various incarnations, it has been downloaded many thousands of times from various websites, in our own way greatly expanding and extending the life of Star Trek: Legacy beyond what would have been its natural life.
What’s Next? We are alive and well here – and are in the discussion stages for creating a brand new game! (as of June 4, 2022).
Brutal Multiplayer Survival Action Game Rust is on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
Facepunch teamed up with Double Eleven to recreate the harsh post-apocalyptic multiplayer title on console
Archival
Teesside, Middlesborough – November 14, 2019 – Rust, one of the most successful, brutal and competitive multiplayer survival games ever created, is making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Announced today at Microsoft’s X019 in London, fans will get a chance to test their survival capabilities when Rust releases on console next year. When Facepunch and Double Eleven unleash servers in 2020, players looking for the ultimate competitive survival experience on console will be able to play online with up to 100 others.
Waking up on a mysterious post-apocalyptic island littered with dilapidated industrial monuments and probing scientists, it’s up to you to figure out how to keep yourself alive in a world where everything wants you dead.
In Rust, there is one goal above everything else: survive. Conquer thirst and hunger, battle the elements, create clothing and stay safe against hostile forces including other players, scientists, bears, wolves or even succumb to fire, drowning or radiation poisoning. A game without rules, Rust doesn’t tell its inhabitants what to do. Players are free to be deceptive and aggressive with intense player vs. player combat, raiding and looting, but there is potentially even more to be earned with a team of friendly players by your side. In the struggle for survival and supremacy, players can build tiny cabins in the woods to huge scrap metal fortresses in an attempt to stay safe, as well as craft a variety of weapons, bombs and traps.
Since Rust’s initial launch into Steam Early Access in 2013, almost eight million fans have populated its world and taken part in the ultimate social experiment, making it one of the most played games on Steam. The title has evolved from its earliest days as a primal-survival game to one that stands out among its competitors – featuring shockingly detailed worlds to explore and build in, filled with a variety of gameplay styles, weapons, crafts and above all else: combat.
Rust is not for the faint of heart: the game boasts a steep learning curve and a huge, killer community of players. Befriend them, kill them – the choice is yours. Players will start out alone with nothing but a rock and a torch, finding and learning blueprints to make new and higher-tier weapons, armour and defenses, building a growing arsenal to give you and your friends chances of survival. Rust will throw a barrage of challenges at you but players can fight back with craftable weapons starting with a rock in your hands, to a spear or bow, through to heavier artillery like assault rifles and rocket launchers.

Oxford, May 23rd, 2022 – Sniper Elite 5 – As part of a covert US Rangers operation to weaken the Atlantikwall fortifications along the coast of Brittany, Karl makes contact with the French Resistance. Soon they uncover a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies can even invade Europe: Operation Kraken. It’s Karl’s mission to take out the high ranking Nazi officers and end Operation Kraken once and for all.
Based upon real world locations from France in 1944 the new game maps are the largest and most immersive in the franchise’s history with the new traversal system offering players an even greater sandbox of options when it comes to taking out their targets. You can even invite a friend to help you on your mission with enhanced co-operative gameplay options.
Sniper Elite 5 – Chris Jones Gaming
Sniper Elite 5 continues the franchise’s unparalleled tactical sniping experience complete with incredible ballistics and enhanced kill cam taking the genre-defining feature to the next level. New customization options allow you to adjust your rifle, other weapons and ammo to suit the mission and your play style.
Rebellion, one of the world’s most successful video games developers and publishers, has today release a new Sniper Elite 5 video that reveals further details about the stealth options that will be available to players when the game is released on May 26th. Offering insight from the development team as well as from the game’s military advisor and motion capture artist Paul Biddiss, the new Spotlight trailer features interviews and gameplay footage showcasing the new traversal, sneaking and takedowns in Sniper Elite 5, including new non-lethal options. The new Spotlight video is available to watch here: https://youtu.be/u435k6geWj8.
Paul Biddiss, the military advisor and action coordinator for a number of high-profile movies and TV shows, provided his expertise to the Sniper Elite 5 development team as well as being the motion capture artist for Karl Fairburne, helping to ensure the highest possible level of authenticity to his movements and takedowns. Speaking about his involvement in the game Paul said: “All the takedowns are realistic to the training that was given to SOE operatives… everything is realistic. There is no embellishment.”
The new video also gives details of the other stealthy options open to Karl including new traversal mechanics which open up hidden areas of the maps as well as giving the player alternative routes to approach their objectives. The player will also have to consider the audible distance of both their weapon and ammo when taking a shot if they want to remain undetected.
For Sniper Elite 5 the player will have a host of non-lethal options at their disposal including the ability to incapacitate the enemy with non-lethal takedowns and ammunition. These options provide the player with even greater scope to approach each mission and game scenario in a way that best suits their playstyle and their objective.
The legend of US carrier-based aviation is coming to War Thunder in June
The F-14 fighter and the battlecruiser HMS Hood will be part of the “Danger Zone” update
Gaijin Entertainment announces that the online military action game War Thunder will receive a major Danger Zone content update in mid-June. For the first time ever, players will be able to take to the skies in the long-awaited F-14 Tomcat, legendary US fourth-generation fighter jet and star of the popular Hollywood movies. The update will introduce dozens of other types of military vehicles ranging from the battlecruiser HMS Hood to the exotic South African G6 Rhino self-propelled howitzer. New “Abandoned Town” and “South-Eastern City” maps will also be added to the game.
The F-14 is a twin-engine variable-sweep wing jet fighter that was in service with the US carrier-based aviation from 1974 to 2006. American F-14s took part in the wars in Vietnam (in the final stages), Iraq and Yugoslavia. In addition, the F-14 fighters are still in service with the Iranian Air Force – these machines were tested in action on the fronts of the Iran-Iraq war, where they scored dozens of air victories.
The first modification of the F-14 in War Thunder will be the F-14A, equipped with an really nice set of air-to-air missiles. In addition to the Sparrow AIM-7E and F, as well as the Sidewinder AIM-9D and G that are already familiar to the players, the F-14A will feature the AIM-9H (a further development of the G version) and the AIM-54A Phoenix, a long-range missile with an active radar guidance system (both missiles will appear in the game for the first time). In addition, the F-14A has a 20mm M61A1 cannon with a rotating barrel, as well as bombs and unguided rockets in case it needs to attack ground targets.
The battlecruiser Hood was commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1920, becoming the largest warship in the British Navy. Eight 15 inch guns are capable of inflicting devastating damage to any enemy, including battleships. The main caliber is supplemented by an auxiliary battery of seven twin 4 inch all-purpose guns, as well as 40mm guns, machine guns and torpedo tubes. Due to its size and powerful armament, the ship was nicknamed the “The Mighty Hood” and became a symbol of the power of the British Empire, but at the beginning of World War II, she was tragically sunk in battle with the German battleship Bismarck.
The G6 Rhino is a self-propelled howitzer on a wheeled chassis with a 155mm gun that can quickly change position and unleash huge high-explosive projectiles (regular and with remote fuzes) on the enemy. The large caliber and weight of the explosives allow even inaccurate hits to cause significant damage from the blast wave and overpressure.
The Danger Zone update will also introduce other new features, including two new vehicle tech trees, as well as new graphical and weather effects. Detailed information about this will be available on the game’s official website in the coming weeks.
What do you suppose the real reason is for the cancellation of E3 this year?
Hard to say. In the words of Screen Rant who say it perfectly..
The cancellation of E3 2022 seems to be just the latest evidence of the trade show’s ultimate downfall, and the rest of the video game industry may not be able to make up for its absence. For gaming enthusiasts, E3 has been a yearly highlight, packed with new announcements and gameplay demonstrations. Scheduled livestreams like Summer Game Fest and a presentation from Xbox will partially fill the void, but without widespread coordination, E3’s level of excitement can’t be matched.
Organized and hosted by the Entertainment Software Association, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (more commonly called E3) has been around for nearly three decades, but has become less and less relevant every year. While always a source of excitement for the gaming community at large, the more traditional trade show aspect caters to a much smaller group of insiders, journalists, developers, and publishers, even though many E3s have allowed limited attendance from the general public. Individual presentations like Nintendo’s regular Directs – and even Sony opting not to participate in the event from 2019 onward – show that E3 isn’t entirely necessary, but its cancellation still leaves a significant void.
Chris Jones says – are they blaming Covid-19 for the cancellation – or the idea that there are more individual showcases that might be upstaging the entire E3 idea?
E3 2022 Empty 3
A key component to E3’s appeal was its ability to consolidate press conferences from many different companies into a three day window. Without a third-party entity like the Entertainment Software Association in charge of scheduling, there’s really no incentive for publishers to cooperate on the timing of their big announcements. The event closest to emulating E3 is now Summer Game Fest, presided over by The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley.
Summer Game Fest will almost certainly have some exciting reveals this year, and may continue to grow into an even larger event, but the scheduled Xbox and Bethesda showcase highlights how small publishers may be adversely affected by E3 2022 being canceled. Getting the gaming community’s undivided attention for three days is a major benefit to indie games that are able to have their trailers featured at E3. Large companies like Microsoft will simply transition to what Sony has already been doing for three years – host individual presentations. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo all have large enough followings to make up for the marketing buzz lost through E3 2022’s cancelation.
E3 2016
E3 2021 gave a boost to small games, but now there isn’t a definitive event for the ever-growing indie market to promote its games at. Summer Game Fest seems to be the next best option, but most of the attention will likely be on its opening night live show, which has limited availability compared to E3’s industry-wide blitz. Summer Game Fest is simply not big enough to replace E3 just yet, and companies that have the means will just continue on under their own power. Microsoft has even set its Xbox showcase for its normal E3 time slot, the second Sunday in June. The frequency of Nintendo Directs means one is likely in the next few months, and if Sony’s last two years are any indication, a PlayStation showcase will also happen this summer. Yea! E3 2022‘s cancellation wasn’t surprising, but it’s left a void that the industry seems collectively ill-equipped to fill.

Build Your City – Against the Storm coming to Steam and GOG Q4 2022, new update release is on Epic Now!
Lead intelligent beavers, lizards, harpies, and humans will establish a bastion against darkness
DALLAS, TX – 26th May 2022 – Hooded Horse is proud to announce the publishing of Against the Storm, a roguelite city builder developed by Eremite Games and set in a fantasy world where it never stops raining. Build endless settlements populated by intelligent beavers, lizards, harpies, and humans and upgrade your citadel while a recurring storm of darkness destroys outposts and reshapes the world.
Against The Storm
With hundreds of gameplay modifiers and 5 distinct biomes, every city location presents unique challenges for even the most resourceful Viceroy. Adjust your strategy to changing weather conditions and mix and match ingredients to take advantage of the resources at hand. You never know what wares the Trader will bring next year, and the forest hold treasures, resources… and ancient threats.
The game takes place in a fantasy medieval world where you play as the Viceroy of the Scorched Queen, tasked with rebuilding the Smoldering City – the only safe haven against a vile cycle of destruction ravaging everything in its path called the Blightstorm. In order to acquire the resources to rebuild, you must tame the wilderness, found endless settlements, and create supply networks while providing a good living for the beavers, lizards, harpies, and humans under your rule.
The game is currently available in Early Access on the Epic Games Store, and the Epic version of Against the Storm has received an update today revamping Trade Routes and introducing a new roguelite mechanic in the form of Timed Orders.
Timed Orders are challenging time-sensitive requests that provide large rewards if succesful but cause the permanent loss of reputation if they fail, encouraging players to experiment with different playstyles and production chains to achieve the objective.
Meanwhile, Trade Routes have been reworked into an export and diplomacy system, where nearby settlements procedurally generate requests for deliveries in exchange for Amber — a unique resource used to unlock new perks and technologies. Trade route offers increase as your relationship with settlements improve, and the goods take time to reach their destination, requiring the player to balance the cost and time of sending a caravan versus the rewards obtained.
Against the Storm is out in Early Access on Epic and it is coming to Steam and GOG in Q4 2022. The press kit for the game, including a downloadable version of the trailer, can be found here. For press inquiries, please contact press@hoodedhorse.com.
